Newsletter #23: February 4, 2014
Power House High plans on making up the two days missed due to the recent cold weather. We will give you more information in the near future. Please know that we will NOT be adding the two missed days to the end of the school year.
There will be no school on Monday, February 17 in commemoration of Presidents' Day.
Homework Center is a safe and quiet place for students to complete homework after school. Students who do not complete homework for that day will be issued a MANDATORY "Homework Center" requirement, which means that they are expected to complete their unfinished work THAT SAME DAY after school in Room 112. By attending Homework Center, students can earn up to full credit on their homework assignment. Students who skip a mandatory Homework Center will be issued 2 demerits and will earn 0% on that particular assignment. We will also call home to inform you of your child's missed Homework Center requirement.
Any student who accumulates more than 20 days of absences, EXCUSED OR UNEXCUSED, must take a summer school class in order to be promoted. Failure to take the summer school class results in your child not moving on to the next grade level or not graduating and receiving their high school diploma.
Night School has started this week. Classes cost $50 and last 15 weeks. For more information, feel free to talk to Ms. Cheung. Please know that students can only miss 2 nights of Night School before being dropped from the class.
Over the next two weeks, we are registering students who will be 18 years old by November 4, 2014, to vote. These students will be eligible to vote in the Primary Election on Tuesday, March 18.
