Time flies: We are already entering our fifth week of school this coming week!! Please make sure to check your child's progress on PowerSchool or reach our to any staff member with any questions or concerns.

Homework Center

Homework Center is up and running!! It runs every Monday-Thursday from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Mama Rosen will join us to help starting Monday, September 8. Come if you need help with editing your essays or with your reading comprehension.

Dress Code

Students need to be in full uniform every day that they come to school. If they are not in full uniform, they will be sent home.

Lunch Forms

One application is required per household listing each PHH student. All students must have a lunch form on file even if they decline to eat breakfast and lunch. Once you receive your lunch status (free, reduced, full), you can choose to participate or decline your enrollment in the food program.

Student Code of Conduct was distributed at Senior Orientation Please read, however, information in the next column pertaining to Dress Code and Attendance.

Basketball Tryouts

Basketball tryouts will take place on Monday, September 8 and Monday, September 15. Look for flyers in the hallway with the place and time of tryouts. Any male student is welcome to try out for the Power House team.Be aware that your GPA must be above a 2.0 to participate during the basketball season. We are looking forward to a great season.

IMPORTANT

We are sending home a student medical information form that needs to be filled out in order to ensure that the school is aware of medical conditions. Please fill out and return as soon as possible.

Senior News

Senior Parent Night is on Thursday, October 9. At this meeting we will discuss Title I funding so make sure to attend.

We are registering all students for the ACT Test, which will take place on Saturday, October 25.

Starting next week and continuing through December, colleges representatives will start visiting during class time to provide information about the admissions and application process.

After School Matters is recruiting for Fall 2014 paid internship programs. These programs pay a stipend to youth participants and are located either downtown at Gallery 37 or in communities throughout Chicago. Apply as soon as possible.

Future Focus College Fair hosted by Triton College on Tuesday, September 23 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. (many colleges will be represented at this fair; it is not a Triton College-specific event)

NACAC Chicago National College Fair on Saturday, September 27 from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Navy Pier

100 BMC College Scholarship Fair on Saturday, October 11 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at UIC Forum

Northern Illinois University Fall Open House on either Monday, October 13 or Monday, November 10 (the only out-of-school day for PHH is November 10 in observance of Veterans Day)
